The "Loneliness Epidemic
The "Loneliness Epidemic" & Social Architecture
Technology has connected us digitally but often leaves us socially isolated. This is a "deep problem" because it affects mental health, productivity, and political stability.
The Opportunity: Designing "Third Places" (social spaces outside of home and work) that utilize urban design and "pro-social" technology to foster genuine human connection.
The Goal: Reducing the systemic health risks associated with isolation, which are currently comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
